My Voice Experience
At the age of 16 Brian began a career in broadcasting. He is a writer, a public speaker and the host of several Internet radio programs. He is often noted for his wit, his command of a wide range of subjects, and of course, his voice.
His "Frank Truth" program aired nationally for nearly two years on the Sirius Satellite Radio Stars Channel.
My Training
B.A., American Studies and English, 1977, Millikin University, Decatur, Illinois
Brian began in broadcasting at the tender age of 16, and learned production in the days of reel-to-reel tape and production elements on vinyl. His voice lent itself to commercial production, so he was called upon to create dozens of spots a week in those early days, learning the art of interpretation and seeking feedback from clients.
He also took coursework in theater while at Millikin, appearing in Reader's Theater there.
He has worked as a news reporter, copywriter and has written articles for national publication.
My Studio Equipment
Brian principally uses a MacBook Pro (and occasionally one of his other Macs) for recording and processing sound, and for editing both audio and video.
He uses a Behringer Board for clean sound delivery. He has a wide selection of both vintage and state-of-the-art microphones, but most often he prefers a newer MXL condenser for day-to-day work in the studio.
Audio Hijack Pro is his choice for initial recording and processing software. He edits using Soundtrack Pro or Audacity.
He has access to an extensive sound library for effects and music at extremely reasonable licensing rates. He sometimes creates music beds himself, and also records his own foley captures when needed.
He uses Skype for phone patches when needed.
